HEIGHTS DOMINATING GORIZIA. THE CORSA VICTORY IMPORTANT. f f LONDON, July 27. “The Times’” correspondent at Chiasso states: Private information from the Udine states that Podgora hill, dominating Gorizia, has been almost entirely won. The victory at Corsa on July 22 grows in importance with a revelation of the tremendous enemy preparations. The Austrian aim was a mass attack to push hack the entire Italian effort and cross the Isonzo. The Italian victory was won by the concentration of five hundred guns, which for several hours maintained an uninterrupted rain of fire on the enemy. “The Times’ ” correspondent at Rome states the Germans entered the Tyrol in April, practically taking the administration from the Austrians. Bavarian generals made Bozen their headquarters, carefully studying the ground and preparing for war with Italy. The “Idea Nazionale” states that the German occupation of Trentino lias been marked by ruthless cruelty, massacring many Italians and removing others to an unknown destination. An Austrian light cruiser and four destroyers bombarded the Adriatic coast railway between Geingallia and Pesaro and the towns of Eano and Senigallia. Two hydroplanes bombarded Ancona. The damage was slight. There were no casualties. In reply to an appeal the Austro-Hungarian Governments have promised to respect churches and sacred monuments in Italy if they are not used for military purposes.
