OPERA HOUSE PiCTUR.ES. The ninth number of “Adventures of Kathlyn” attracted a large crowd at the Opera Home last evening. This episode of the great serial is extra good and contains many exciting scenes. .Knthlyn’s sister, Winnie, has been forcibly crowned Queen of Allaha, to serve the sinister purpos of Umballah. Ivathiyn, her father and party secure admission to the ceremony disguised as animal trainers, but are powerless for the present to do anything. Later, Kathlyn plans to gain admittance to the royal harem where Winnie is known to be held prisoner, by Winnie feigning sickness and insisting upon sending for a female- physician. Kathlyn secures the dress of a practitioner, is admitted, and eventually starts to smuggle her sister out and escape through the garden. Put Umballah discovers the physi ian is Kathlyn and orders her to he seized and con lined as a prisoner in another room of the harem until the conclusion of the festival of the Juggernaut. Umballah then has Kathlyn staked to the ground so that she will he crushed under the wheels of the Juggernaut. Puiulita overhears the plot and warns IJni.ce and Colonel Hare, who rescue the girl. The rescue party, disguised, plan a great trained animal entertainment', and although Umballah to frustrate their endeavors, K-itidyn and her sister make a great bid for freedom. The stirring story of the abduction of a millionaire's daughter, as told by the Edison players in the sensational film, ‘Tracked by the Uouikit-, was again foTmwed with breathless interest by a large crowd at IDs -Majesty's Theatre last night. A rascally foreign Count kidnaps the la<ly, but he does not- get far. The girl's lover us a manly young farmer, who has a penchant for breeding Siberian wolf hounds. When he hears that his lady love lias been carried off. he looses his largest pack of hounds, and they set off in full cry after the Count. The latter puts up a game fight, but is soon run down by the hounds. Forlitying; himself in a hut in the woods, tiie Count makes a- brave defence. •The young farmer lover sets lire to xho hut, overpowers the Count, and rescues the girl of his heart. It is one of the best films seen' for a long time. Two other lust-class photoplays are “The Mill oi Life,' a pathetic Vitagraph drama of to-day. and ••The Silent Accuser,” a- tremendously exciting Western story, in which some real fighting and hard riding .is shown. 'The principal features in “'J ho South African Rebellion’’ wore received with enthusiasm, especially the hunting down of Colonel Maritz and the capture of Do Wot . The exciting cross-country horse race at Adelaide, dealt with in the “Australian Gazette,” was a tit-bit which the audience relished last- night. The uproarious Keystone farce, "Rum and Wallpaper” and the dainty Edison fun-maker. “Andy Tics Hero.” wore also films that won a high place in public favor. A final opportunity of seeing this novel and refreshing entertainment will be afforded this evening.

Those include Miss Margaret Noble fan actress who lias been with Mr Moffat ever since his lecturing days), Miss Mattie MoLellan (who plays the heroine), Miss Gertie Henderson fan English, lady amongst a. lot of Scotch people). Both Mr and Mrs Moffat arc playing their oriniim! parts of Mattha and Txmzie Ingles respectively. “Runty Pulls the Strings,” the opening production, will bring forward the original •“Runty” company who were so successful last year, when Gisborne had to he omitted from tne tour of New Zealand, but bv Availing .playgoers here will see both: productions on consecutive audits.
