TH E TRENTH A M CAMP.

ERECTION ~OF XEW II UTS. “AS HEALTHY AS ANY CAMP.” A 1 INI STER’S ST A TEA! EN i". Bv Telegraph—Special Correspondent. WELLINGTON, Aug. <>. Air Alloa was to-day asked whether he had anything to say about the remarks of Air Justice Honking, president of the Trontham Commission Inquiry, concerning the action of the Defence Authorities in proceeding with the erection of lints before the Commission had presented its report.

“I wish to make no comment upon it,” said Mr Allen, “except to say this: That the matter is one of urgent necessity to us. Wo have men coming into camp and we have to do something to provide accommodation for them. We have medical advice—the best available—that the place is all right if we make certain alterations. Wo have made most of those alterations and we are prepared to make any others that may become necessary as a result of the report of the Commission, but on no account can we stop work. The huts being erected are not the same as wo have put up before. Iron was too expensive to buy and the new huts will have wooden Avails and goilite roofs. We are experimenting with two of the huts, putting in some ridge ventilations to' see what the effect is. I. should say also that these Trentliam huts were carefully designed and the designes were submitted to a board of experts, who passed them. “There has ■ been_ very little sickness in Trentliam for a long time past. Trentliam is just as healthy as any of the other camps and probably more healthy.”
