Frequent German efforts between Yprcs and Arras were resultless, but the Allies’ trenches suffered from the heavy artillery. Thie German losses were formidable. As an instance, out of GOO Bavarians who took part in an attack upon Nouville, 347 were killed. The British guns oh "Wednesday dispersed an important force massing on tho main road preparatory to the attacks.
