He massed troops and pontoon material m trains opposite Novo Alexandria, causing the Russians to throw their best troops and reserves into Novo Alexandria. s At nio'ht, however, twenty pontoon trams, hidden by straw, with troops, moved downstream and the engineers -mckly threw four bridges, heavily fortified, over the Vistula. In a few hours the Germans crossed and surprised the Russians,, encircling Ivangorod to the north and cutting off connection with Warsaw. . ... . , The “Vossiche Zeitimg" states that the Russians have completed preparations for the evacuation of Kovno. Ihe Governor, civil officers, and archives have gone to Novo Alexandrovsk. Half the civilians have gone. The wounded have been sent to Central Russia.. THE GERM AN BTORY CONTRADICTED.
