He crave the name of Bradbury, and said he had been a sergeant m the King’s Rifles. He, went so far as to address gatherings of the soldiers, describing‘in detail the engagements lie bad been through, and ho urged young men-to enlist- instead of spending thentime at the seaside. . He was a regular visitor to Lie N.C.O.’s messes in tho town, and was everywhere welcomed and entertained. On Saturday morning a lady was s<> taken with the man that she bought him a largo basket of strawberries and added a jug of! cream to her gift, vlMe a gentleman bought him a new cap. Great was the surprise of the hero s numerous friends when the police marched him off to the police station. Hero ho was examined, and it "■>- found that his missing arm, which he said a- shell took off, was carefully stowed away inside the waistcoat anti trousers. It was also found that ho had not been wounded, and "lien charged with being a fraud the man readilv admitted that his real name was Victor Ilenshaw, but that ho was also known as Victor McClare, and that he had boon for about a week m the Scottish Guards, but had deserted Tho man has been handed met to the military authorities for wearing the King’s uniform without authority.
