HIGH COM MISS!ONER'S CABLE. {Press Association Telegram.. WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated August 7, states:— Meat.—There has boon no material change in the market conditions during the week. The market has declined further owing to the poor demand, together with me larger supplies. Mutton.—North Island, 0 3-lGd for best quality light-weight, ordinary quality G;[d; owes Gd. Lamb: Canterbury two’s 8:' ( d, heavy weights Bjd; other than Canterbury, for light weight, second grade, Bd. Beef: Now Zealand is not quoted. Chilled hindquarters Bjd, forequarters 7Jd. Butter.-—The market is very firm for the best quality. Danish is linn, but there is limited demand at 170 s to 'l74s; Siberian, good demand, especially for finest, 'l3os to Kllsj Australian supply practically exhausted, prices not quoted; Irish creamery firm, fair demand, 150 s to Ibis; Argentine, none offering. Cheese.—The market, is steadier. Canadian is quiet, white and colored 7-Is to 70s ; English cheddar, quiet, 91s to 90s; New Zealand, ouiet, 71 s to 70s up to 78s; United States, little more business is doing, GSs to 74 cording to size. It is estimated that l-he Canadian cheese stocks at Lon. don, Liverpool and' Bristol on August 3 were : 333,000 boxes against 103,000 boxes last year; New Zealand and Australian cheese stocks at London and Bristol on August 3 were 8350 crates, against 10.500 crates last vcw . Hemp.—The market is steady, with an improved demand. New Zealand good to fair grade, €32; fair, £3O; August, to October shipment, good to fair, £3l 10s; fair £29 ids; Manila, new graded, fair, £37. The output, from Manila for the week was 13.000 bales.
Hops.—The market remains firm. English 11.0 s to 130 s; Californian, 90s to 110 s. Wheat. 1 —The market is (inner on account of the bad weather. August to September si.ipmoni, American, lbs per quarter, Canadian 555; September to October shipment, Canadian, new crop, 49. S Gd.
Oats.—The market is firmer. There is more demand. August-,September shipment, Argentine, 25s Gd per quarter.
