— . — —- .ELECTION OF PARENTS’ REPRESENTATIVES. FOUR NOMINATIONS' RECEIVED. The Hon. W. Morgan, returning officer, yesterday received the following nominations for the return of two members to represent the parents of pupils on the Board of Governors of the Gisborne High School, the eleetum for which will be held on August John Kinder, nominated by Thomas Corson. | Mount, nominated by Alox- ; ander Cathbort. ! Alex Campbell Steele., nominated by i Charles Blackburn, j -Rev. Edgar Ward. nominated by W. j H. Chrisp. i (( ,|? on '„ Ml ' Morgan explained to a times reporter yesterday that it is not necessary for a candidate to be a parent or guardian of a pupil of the school, out the nominators have to lie. lhero aro 132 names on the roll. The definition of “pupil of the school” is a pupil whose name is on the school roll at the end of the term preceding the closing the roll. As the second "term of the Gisborne High School does not terminate until towards the end of this month it means that only the parents of pupils who were on the roll at the end of the first term aro entitled to vote at this election. The anomaly is that there may he pupils? who were on the roll at the end of the first term, but who are not at school now, yet their parents or guardians have a vote;' whereas the parents of pupils who are now attending the school, but who were not on the roll at the end of the first term have no vote.' Voting papers are being printed, and will be forwarded to those entitled to vote within a day or two. The voting paper must he signed by the voter, anil enclosed in a sealed envelope, bearing on the-outside thereof the words “Voting paper,” and if posted on. or before tiro day of election, ]9th iust,, or, if delivered to him j shall bo delivered at liis office, Good’s Buildings, Gladstone Road, before the day of election, or not later than 5 p.m. on that day.
