BOROUGH MATTERS.
MEETING OF COUNCIL COMMITTEES. The various committees of the Borough Council met last evening. There were present: Ors. Jas. Brown (Dep-uty-Mayor), G. C. Munns, T. G. Lawless, A. Wade, 11. Miller, 11. E. Bright, and J. C. Collins. The question of obtaining additional rolling-stock: for the tram service was under discussion, when it was decided that it was in tho interests of the proposition that in order to maintain tho time-table additional rolling-stock was necessary, and it was agreed, to recommend the Council to pur chase another ear for.delivery in April next, the Clerk in tho' mean ti mo to ascertain if financial in rrangomonts can be made, and Mr. Cross to submit a report on the class of car ho requires. It was deckled to write to the Edison Storage Battery Co. with a view to detaining some concession on tho plant already obtained. Inspector Stewart reported regarding defective plumbing in connection with a house iu Harris Street, and it was decided 1 to write tlie master plumber, giving him '4B hours in which to put the work in conformity with the by-laws, otherwise ho would bo prosecuted. Til’d Deputy-Mayor and Cr. Munns were authorised! to seal tho consent of tho Council to a right-of-way in Derby Street for the Church of England trustees. Mr. Dunn, shift engineer at the power-house:, asked tho Council to reconsider his resignation, aTid asked for •reinstatement, as he had: changed his mind l regarding leaving Gisborne. It was decided to inform Mr. Dunn that the Council Iliad advertised for fresh applications, and it could not accede to his request, but id advised him to apply again, when his application would; ho considered with the others.
