In the Supreme Court to-day James Kirkman was convicted on a charge of threatening to burn down the \ ictoria Bridge Hotel, near Kawarau Gorge, but was recommended for clemency owing to the excited state he was in when lie made the threat. sentence was deferred. John Robert Henderson, qf Milton, was charged with stealing £2Q paid to him on behalf of the 14th Otago Regiment and with making a false entiy with intent to defraud. Accused was convicted on both counts, but was recommended for leniency on account or laxity in keeping accounts and maKing disbursements. Sentence was - ferred.
