SOME AMAZING FIGURE-"'. (Press Association Telegram A WELLINGTON, Aug. 12. Already this month five big. steamers have been despatched with full cargoes of meat purchased under the* Imperial Government- meat supply scheme. Those are the Indrapura, La Blanca, Delphic, Athenie. and Corinthie, and live others (the Ruahine, Somerset, Opawa, Tamui, and Makariui) are timed to leave by the 29th inst. Since the inauguration of the scheme, thirty steamers have been despatched, carrying 153,436 quarters of beef, 1,11(3,1X5 carcases of mutton and 1.757,873 carcases of lamb purchased oil behalf of the Imperial Government-, and 13,751 quarters of beet. 92.05 S carcases of mutton, and 124,117 carcases of lamb have been loaded into tile live vessels at present on the loading berth in the Dominion. The moat in store awaiting shipment- on 31st‘ultimo was .equal to 1,565,252 501 b carcases, and the total payments up to and including the 10th inst., amount to .03,375,755 19s sd.
