In "Beneath the Sea,” the big Lubin romance, which will head the now programme which "Pa the Pictures will submit at His Majesty’s Theatre to-night, the Gisborne public will be able to see just how a submarine works. The story tells how the secretary of a submarine construction company, in order'to‘revenge, himself on Ned Ellis; a young inventor, who loves and is loved by Alice Herring, daughter of the president, plans to destroy an invention which lias been illstaled in a submarine. Ho manages to poison the mind of one of the workmen, who assists him in his nefarious scheme. But by the bravery of Ned Ellis and the devotion of bis sweetheart, the plot fails. Tin? submarine is hunk, but Ellis succeeds in. escaping from the living tomb at the bottom of the sea. and brings assistance to bis comrades. “The Price of Vanity” is a powerful tale of love, devotion, anti jealousy, splendidly told by the Vitagraph Company. A young and pretty woman who is fond of-dress'ret uses a wealthy man about forty years of age, ant! marries a young man just from college. The middle-aged man. is a true friend, but the suspicious bushand thinks there is something wrong. Tint end comes when iiis wife wants to go to a- reception. She runs into debt at a fashionable dressmaker's. After the truth is;found out, the girl realises she has paid the price of her vanity. It is t a clean, virile story that strikes home.
