Cooper (two offences), W. K. Robb, T. J. Cooper, S. Wilson, G. Gordon, S. Vincent, AV. Brown, G. Crosswell, J. Jones, Ngawini AVhaitiri, ■). Beale. H. Gillard, N. W. Moore,' P. Malston. AV. Air Stock appeared for all the oifenders, and stated that for years itbad been the practise not to stamp receipts handed to the Cook County Council by its employees. Last year, however, the Government Auditor instructed the Council that all receipts for over C2 were to be duly stainpcxl. An effort had been made to carry out these instructions, but owing to Air Warren’s illness they had been neglected. Counsel had boon instructed to plead guilty and asked for leniency. His Worship said that no doubt the off ences were duo to carelessness rather than to an intention to defend the revenue. However, lie must register a conviction - against tho offenders. They would each be fined 5s and /s costs.
