Mi’ E. C. Beale's v.siting team of Auuckiand cricketers met the Coast team e nosen by Mr A. M. Beale at Waipiro Bay to-day. ltain held olf throughout the morning, but in the afternoon stumps had to be drawn at three o’clock, with the visitors Seven wickets down for 208 as against the home team’s total of 95.

In the Coast team’s innings G. Mill carried his bat right through and Kissling hit two fine sixes. Spence,, with 15, was the only other player to reach double figures. The Aucklanders’ fielding was good and among their batsmen Butler again hit hard, including in his tally three sixes and nine fours. Monteith was enterprising and McCarthy also batted soundly. Johnstone specialised in boundaries and’bis 2-5 consisted of six fours and a single.' W. Oates was the outstanding bowler among the Coast men. The home team’s fielding was not as good as usual and several catches were dropped. J. Mill did good work behind the stumps. Mr E. C. Beale’s team returned t-o' Tokomaru Bay this evening and they leave to-morrow morning for papier. A match arranged lor Wairoa has befcn cancelled on account uf the rain.
