This proposal is said not to appeal to Ponsford or cricketers generally.—U. P. A.

SMITH REJECTED AS BOARD OF CONTROL SECRETARY

(Received Jan. 8, 12.5 a.m.) ✓ SYDNEY,. Jan. 7. All the States were represented at a meeting of the Australian Board of Control which to-day reached a number of important decisions. A report showed that- the profits of the Australian XL 1926 tour totalled £20.714.

The Board decided, without a vote, to reject Mr Sydney Smith as secretary, a position ho has held fur fifteen years. Members justified their action by resolving that the office should lie held by a paid official and, pending the necessary alteration in the constitution, Mr W. H. Jeames was appointed secretary. Further the Board was of opinion that the secretaryship should he held by an official in the States of South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria in rotation for a period of not more than three years in each case.

Regarding the matter of Mary 10bone’s question concerning the size of the cricket hall, it was decided to replv that the Board considered that 8 13-16 inches in circumference, nor the ball should not be less than more than nine inches.

The meeting declined, for the present. the West Indian i proposal that a team from there should visit Australia and an Australian team should reciprocate.—U.P.A.
