ANOTHER HUNTING ACCIDENT
HORSE STUMBLES AT DIFFICULT FENCE.

The Prince of Wales had an .accident while hunting with Melton Mowbray. The horse stumbled taking off at a difficult fence and fellThe Prince of Wales jumped clear, but in doing so badly strained liis left wrist. His wrist watch was smashed 1 to atoms. The horse dashed off, but w r as captured and was returned to the Prince of Wales, who though obviously in pain, mounted and completed the day’s sport. The Duchess of Westminster also fell and somersaulted but was uninjured. Another member was less fortunate and broke an arm and collarbone.

APOLOGISED FOR TITLE

The Prince of Wales once humorously apologised lor his rovai title, according to one of several new stories about him in Major F. E. \ erney’s book, “H.R.H.: A Character Study,” which has just appeared. The Prince, as a junior midshipman on the battleship Hindustan, was found by a lieutenant in the wardroom sacred to the ranks of sub-lieu-tenants and upwards. “What’s your name!”’ demanded the lieutenant, “and what the deuce are you doing in the wardroom ?” The Prince slid to his feet. “Wales, sir,” said he. “The captain brought me in here. I hope you don’t mind frightfully.” “W-h-a-a-t You cheeky young devil ! Get out of this before I kick Ho paused and took a. good look at the offender. “Damn it! i believe you arc Wales!” The Prince grinned apologetically. “Sorry, sir; I believe I am, too; but 1 can’t help it.”
