His Holiness the Pope is charging the Royalist daily newspaper L’Action Francais with absence of respect for Papal authority and with an attitude of revolt and scorn for the truth. He has placed the newspaper and certain works of the editor, M. Maurras, upon the index expurgatorius.
The Pope recalls that Pope Pius X. decided to ban the newspaper, but postponed action. He is.now eniorcing the ban owing to criticisms of the Pope’s approval of France’s peace poliev conveyed to M. Doumergue on January I.—A.N.Z.C.A.
