— -4J'. DEATH FOLLOWS DRUNKEN BOUT.

WOODVILLE. Jan. 10

An inquest ivas held this morning

concerning the death of Robert Russell, 48, a laborer, working on a contract road-making for the Eketahuna ■County, married, with a wife and child in Ireland, whose death occurred in a whore at Woodville on Saturday afternoon following a drinking Lout. Deceased and a brother had been holidaying in Napier and arrived in Woodville on Tuesday. They went to Farrell's whare on Thursday. The Coroner’s verdict was in accordance with the medical evidence, that death was due from the effect of chronic interstitial pneumonia and acute alcoholism The brothers had Leen in the Dominion for two vears. —P.A.

FATALLY INJURED IN MOTOR CYCLE ACCIDENT.

AUCKLAND, Jan. 10,

Stanley Raster, a resident of Grey Lynn, sustained a fractured skull through the capsize of a motor eycicwitli a side chair in which he was a passenger. Albert Roy, Allen, driver of the motor cycle, sustained bruises on the face, arms and knee. Both were removed to hospital. The injuries received by Raster terminated fatallv—P.A.

MOTUIHI ISLAND BOATING ACCIDENT.

AUCKLAND, Jan. 10.

Prolonged search yesterday _ and to-day failed to disclose any sign of Harold Tidd, a single man, aged 21 years, who was involved in a boating accident near Motuihi Island on Saturday evening. Further particulars show that the missing man and his cousin Edwin T. Ticld, left Devonport in a 14-foot sailing boat about 6.30 p.m. When about 400 yards from Motuihi Island the boat capsized. The two men undressed in the water, and struck out for the shore. In the darkness Edwin Tidd was separated from his cousin. When he reached the shore he gave a call, which was answered from the sea. darkness, however, made it impossible locate Harold Tidd. although Vy' win Tidd and a shepherd continued the search far * into the night, but without success.—P.A.
