HAUTANOA SPORTS
SUCCESSFUL MEETIN G
(Special to the Times.) TOKOMARU BAY, Jan. 10. Despite adverse weather conditions a very successful aquatic sports meeting was bold in tile Tokoinaru Bay harbor on Saturday afternoon. The promoters were the Hautanoa Library, Sports and Entertainment Club and it was their fourth annual meeting. Spectators attended in large numbers and over £ls was taken at the gate.
The most important event of the afternoon, the 100yds East Coast championship, resulted in a thrilling finish between Fat Murphy and G. Corbett, the judges being, unable to separate them.
Owing to the very rough sea, competitors in the various events had arduous tasks and times consequentlv were very slow.
" The refreshment stall on the wharf did very good business and various guessing competitions were well-pat-ronised. At the conclusion of the consolation race, a pleasant little ceremony was held on the wharf, when the prizes v. ere presented to the success'ill competitors.

Scott; announcer, Tlr Roy Seccombe; entry stewards, Messrs A. 'Leonard, F. Shine and F. Bennett; lum. secretary, Mr F. J. Bennett.
