BIG INCREASE IN TONNAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

The continued vogue of shipping fitted with the internal combustion engines is revealed in Lloyds ship butlding returns, which show that out of the total tonnage under construction in all countries at December 31, 193:’). motor ships accounted*, tor 1100.000 tons. The tonnage _ under construction in Britain v.as , ouy.ju, which was 125,000 tons than last year. The tonnage building abroad was 1,173.000, or 9700 tons above last year.—A.N.Z.O.A.
