The inquest was proceeded with today regarding the death of the four-year-old hoy, Roy Hardi rigc McCullough. as a result of being knocked down bv a* motor driven in Adelaide rend bv Dr Paget, of island Bay. The "child’s mother said that three children were playing on the street. She saw a car travelling towards town ■.it a moderate speed and on its correct side. Deceased left the others and ran across in front of the car. Dr Paget gave evidence that he approached Chilka street at 20 miles an hour, watching the intersection. NAPIER. Jan. 11. James Halloway, a fitter. m the railway workshop at Napier, was run down by a ballast tram m the railwav raids - this morning when walking to tiie workshops to begin the daws work. Halloway was killed instantlv, being badly mutilated by the plough on the under-carriage ot a truck which was in front or the engine. Deceased apparently did not see or hear the train approaching.
