David Hunter, ex-Yorksliire wicket keeper, dropped dead at Scarborough, states a London cable message. A London cable message announces the death of Sir John Scott Keltic, former president of the Geographical section of the British Association; aged 87 years.—A. and N.Z.C.A. When in Victoria (B.O.) on wd£ nesday, Air Bruce visited the Legislature, which was in session. He watched the proceedings on the floor of the House. In a speech he exhorted members to preserve the British Parliamentary traditions and the system which was the admiration of the world.—.A. and N.Z.C.A.
At the jubilee celebrations of the Tuapeka County on Wednesday evening congratulations were extended to Air. John J. Woods on being senior county clerk of the Dominion and on the golden jubilee of his appointment. Air. Woods composed the music for Bracken’s poem, “God Save New Zealand,” in 1875.—P.A.
