RECORD SUM FOR SINGLEANIMAL RAM PURCHASED FOR 500 GUINEAS. MASTERTQN, Jan. 13 It was reported this evening that Mr W. 11- Glasson, President of the Australian Longwool Sheepbreeders’ Association, had purchased this afternoon from Mr R. W. Matthews (Lower Valley) a four-tooth ram of Waiorongomai strain for 500 guinea's, which is a Dominion record price for a single .sheep of any breed P.A. ROMNEYS BRING GOOD PRICES. The Wairarapa stud sheepbreeders’ ■annual ram fair was held to-day beI'ure a large attendance of buyers rej> re seating all the New Zealand provinces and New South Wales. It uas essentially a Romney sale, all other breeds being entirely neglected. The top price was 250 guineas, paid In- Shannon Bros, of Feilding for a shearling ram offered by W.. Cl Small (Kairanga,) who topped the averages with 100 guineas for live sheep. W. Perry and Son, “Penrose,” Masterton, had an average of 88 1-3 guineas for eighteen animals, their best prices being 200 guineas to J. D. T.ilbarn (Huntcrville), 180 guineas to X. Stewart (Feildingh, 190 guinT(a> to J. Miller (Otago), 130 guineas to T. H. Mee (Otago), and 150 guineas to W. R. Glasson (New South Wales). Quinton Donald (Feather.ston) averaged 82 1-3 guineas, his lust prices beimr 220 guineas, to J. G. Alexander (Wanganui), 120 guincas to Crawford King (Otago), and 'inO guineas to Lamb ; Bros (North Auckland). A. P. Southey (East Taratalii) averaged 65 guineas, with one 1,,t reaching 155 guineas, the puroluiser being W. R. Glasson (New > hitli Wales).—P.A.
