MR. COATES’ TOUR
WILL NOT BE DRAWN ON IMPERIAL DEFENCE N..Z WANTS MORE TRADE WITH CANADA (Received Jan. 14, 11.50 p.m.) OTTAWA, Jan. 14. ‘ ‘Canada’s contribution to Imperial defence* is a question for your Premier, Mr Mackenzie King”, declared Mr Coates in a statement here. It was a question upon which said the New Zealand Premier, he did not wish to express an opinion. Mr Coates said he hoped to discuss the question of better trade relations between Canada and New Zealand. While saying he was anxious to increase the trade between the two countries Mr Coates indicated that a new trade agreement might possibly be come to later.— A. and N.Z.C.A.
