LEAGUE SPLIT

STATEMENT BY N.Z‘. PLAYED

"BEEN GROSSLY MISJUDGED” TOUR WILL PROBABLY MEAN DEFICIT OF £ISOO LONDON, Jan. 13. Mouat, a member of the New Zealand League team, interviewed prior to leaving for home, declares he has no intention of publicly defending the conduct of himself and the other dissentients, but they had been grossly misjudged. “Recently” he said, “we frankly stated our case to the Rugby League Council who are now laying the matter before the New Zealand Council demanding an inquiry into the conduct of the tour” Mr Osborne, chairman of the League Council, opines there is much to be said for the malcontents..

English League circles declare that the tour has been most disappointing. The players’ skill has been below expectations, and the enforcement of- discipline has been most difficult, consequently the team has not done itself justice. Instead of a surplus of £2OOO ‘there will probably be a deficit of £ISOO.—A. and N.Z. C.A.

OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES STOPPED. DISSENTIENTS LEFT ALMOST PENNILESS. (Received Jan. 14, 5.5 p.m.> LONDON, Jan. 13. The New Zealand League footballer Singe complains that the dissentients’ out of pocket expenses _ were stopped five weeks ago. "‘We left Harrowgatc at Christmas almost penniless.” he said. “The Males Rugby League Council was very good and presented money to take us home. We claim that the best team was not played throughout the tour.” —A. and N.Z.C.A.
