Favonia boarding-house, of twenty rooms in Otahuhu, was completely destroyed by fire early this morning. (Sixteen boarders escaped in their night attire with only a few articles of clothing seized hastily as they left. The wind took the flames right through the building, which burned furiouslv. The brigade saved an a - juinimr garage, which was equipped with a bowser containing a quantity of benzine. The building was insured for £I7OO in the Royal Office and the furniture for £6OO m the Br - tish Traders. The building was owned bv Mr J. Stackpole, of the Windsor Castle Hotel, Auckland, and was leased by Mrs Florence J. Beaty.— P.A.
