DEATH FOLLOWS CHILD-BIRTH
Mrs Mata Winiata. a young Maori woman, aged 24 years, living at lailiamuti, Wlmtatutu, gave birth to a male child at 10 p.m. on Sunday nmht. Everything appeared to be progressing favorably when Mrs W miata complained of pains m her chest. A resident near by, who was iormerLv a nurse, was called m m the early hours of yesterday morning, but before she could assist the suiterei. Mis Winiata passed away. Dr Colliding Rice conducted a post mortem examination yesterday mornurn and later on an inquest was held, Mr E. C. Levvey presiding. After hearing Dr. Rice s evidence, the Coroner returned the following verdict: “That death was due to a sudden blockage of the pulmonary artery hv a clot of blood.
