BOATING TRAGEDY
GALE SUDDENLY ARISES ON ' LAKE TWO YOUTHS AND A GIRL DROWNED. (United Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received Jan. 19, 8.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 19. While a party of four boys and four girls were boating on the Tuggerah Lake, they were overtaken by a southerly gale which reached a velocity of fifty miles an hour. The boat was rapidly swamped by the waves, and the party decided to overturn the craft and cling to the bottom Tljis was done, but it was not long before two youths lost their grip and were drowned. * One girl twice lost her hold, hut was brought back. On the third occasion, however, she was lost sight of and drowned. - The boat eventually drifted ashore with the five survivors.—U.P.A.
