MERINOS ADVANCE 7* PER CENT. MELBOURNE, Jan. 19. The wool sales continued with very keen, competition. Best merinos advanced 71 per cent, on December rates, while good merino and finer grades of comebacks were from par to 5 per cent, dearer.—U P.A. SYDNEY SALES RECORD PRICE OF 40M FOR GREASY MERINO (Received Jan. 20, 1.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 19. The wool sales were continued under general and animated competition, and were fully equal to The sales of the previous week. The hardening tendency on finer grades was further accentuated. There was a strong market for comebacks and crossbreds, which ruled firm at late rates. Greasy merino sold to a Sydney record of 40$d. —U.P.A.
