Mr. Hector Sinclair is at present on a business visit to Gisborne, ami is staying at the Masonic Hotel. The following appointments n>. .-restitute probationary assistants have been made by the Hawke's Bay Education Board: Miss Nova I. Pr.itridge, Makaraka : Miss Eve L. Zacharinh. Kaiti; Miss Edna M. Phillips. Gisborne Main; Miss Frances Sharp. Te Haparn; Miss Pant Priestley. Te Arai. Mr. M. J. White, secretary of the Power Board, was authorised to attend the Power Secretaries' and Engineers’ Association Conference, to be held in Palmerston North on February 3. Members are to bo addressed by some of the leading experts m engineering and office administration in the Dominion. Nominations for membership of the Poverty Bay River Board closed yesterday with the returning officer. Mr.. H. M. Porter. Five members are required, and the following nominations were received: Messrs. W. Clark. F. Collin, W. C. Pilmer, G. V. Smith, and C. Tietjeu. As the number of nominations did not exceed the number of vacant seats, the five nominees were duly declared elected ior the new term.
