BOXING
PURDY OUTPOINTS JANSEN WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. In a splendid contest at the Town Hall before a crowded house, Charlie Purdy (New Zealand) defeated Raymond Jansen the French boxer, on points after an exciting fifteen rounds. Jansen took the aggressive from the first to the last rounds, evidently seeking to knock out Purdy, but the latter was too clever, his head and footwork being excellent. Purdy had a comfortable lead.—P.A.
