Mr. W. A. Low, well-known in theatrical circles, lias arrived in Gisborne to make arrangements for Joseph Cunningham’s English comedy season, commencing at the Opera House next Saturday. The death occurred suddenly at Outram on Saturday of dir. Thomas Gray Seoullar, aged -52 years, a member of the firm of Waters, Ritchie and Co. . He was on holiday at Outran: at the time of his death.—P.A. A Vancouver message states that Mr. Coates arrived on Saturday morning from Winnipeg, after experiencing the coldest weather of the winter, the thermometer at many points touching -'-5 degrees below zero. He proceeds on Sunday to Sail Francisco, en route for New Zealand.—A. and N.Z.C.A. The appointment of four Government nominees on the Council of the University of New Zealand, now in process of reconstruction in terms of lasi session’s amending Act, is announced by the Minister of Education. Mr. Y\ . E. Kinuernoy, for many years a member of the firm of Perry. Perry and Kiimerney, solicitors, died at Timaru on Saturday morning, agea 72. Deceased was born at Wexford, Ireland, in 1854, aud came to Now Zealand in 1562. He was educated at a private school iu New Plymouth and came to Timaru in IS9I. He joined the firm of Perry and PerrjN the same year. Deceased was a lawyer of outstanding parts aud a recognised authority on municipal, harbor board and banking law.—P.A.
