THE LIBERAL SPLIT
MR LLOYD GEORGE’S ENDOWMENT PARTY ORGANISATION AFFECTED LONDON, Jan. 23. The Liberal Council has issued a statement that the administrative committee's acceptance of Mr Lloyd George’s endowment entailed serious eonsquences to party organisation, including a moral obligation towards the donor apparently incompatible with the freedom of policy and judgment essential to healthy political action. The Liberal Council,_ although not antagonistic to the existing organisations, remains independent of the funds and the obligations attaching t-o its aceptance, but will work harmoniously as regards all Liberal causes.
Sir William Plender has been appointed joint treasurer.—A. and N.Z.C.A.
