AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A committee meeting of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association was hold Thursday afternoon. Present—Sir J. 0. Wilson (chairman), Messrs Mathias, Norman, Fergusson, Holley. Mann, Henderson, J. T, Ford, Wilkin, Mcßeth, A. A. Fantham, Tbos. Bruce, and J. T. Matson. A letter was read from Mr Buss, asking for the loan of the hurdles of the association for the use of the Northern Association.

The meeting agreed to grant the request—fid each to be charged for the loan of the hurdles; the same to be returned nest day.

A letter was read from Mr N. Wolfe, offering a medal for the best two fat bullocks which have not taken a prize prior to the show of 1874. It was resolved that the secretary be instructed to advertise the prize given by Mi Wolfe, and to convey to him the thanks of the association for his gift. The meeting then proceeded to elect the judges for the various classes at the November show of 1874. The sum of £74 4s was paid in on account of the recent stud horse parade. It was resolved that two bands should be engaged for the show day, to perform alternately. The following gentlemen were elected as a yard committee, viz Messrs J. Ferguson, W. Norman, Holley, Bruce, and Henderson. It was resolved that the class stewards be paid £1 Is each on the day of the show. The following gentlemen were appointed as a dinner committee, viz:—Messrs Alport, Bruce, M'Beth, Maun, Garforth, and H. P.

M. Aynsley. The marshals for the show were also appointed. It was resolved —“That the catalogues be sold by public auction, and that the purchaser be paid Is each for the same, not only by the public, but by the association, for those copies required for class stewards, members of committee, &c.” It was resolved —“ That the booths ard right of sports, &c, should be sold at Tattersall’s on the 51st instant.” It was decided that the ten herd books given by Mr J. Page, be bound uniformly with those awarded as prizes given by the association ; the work to be done fn Mel-

oourne. The secretary was instructed to afford the information respecting the judging of the sheep on the day previous to the show ; such information not to be published until the other awards are made known. The meeting then adjourned.
