ROAD BOARDS.
,#— EYRETON. The ordinary meeting was held on February Ist. Present—Messrs Wilson, chairman pro tern., Bradley, Birnie, and Brown. It was: proposed by Mr Birnie, seconded by Mr Bradley-" That Mr J. Evans Brown be elected chairman for the year. Carried. Letters were read:— From the Secretary for Pnbhc Works, asking for copies of contracts entered into, the surveyor's reports, and result of ™*™% the Eyre'protection works;, also, a list of the amounts raised in the districts on account of said protection works,, ~' , ... From Secretary for Public Works, stating the Provincial Solicitor saw no objection to conveyance of land being made from Mr Cherry for Eyre outlet drain, or to the Superintendent entering into a covenant to indemnify Mr Cherry against all injury, pro vided the Board refund all sums of mouey that the Superintendent; may be called upon From Mr Dixon, that he.had. waited on the Government, ; in reference to obtaining the grant for the Eyre protection works. From Mr Fisher,' asking to have Jackson s road repaired. The Burvsyor was directed to see to the work. . ■ . . Mr R. Ashworth applied for payment of £l6 on account of road near his place. It'was decided he be paid on completion of the work. Mr Denton asked to have No 10. road formed a distance of fifty chains from South Eyre road. It was decided to comply with the request and tenders invited. It was resolved that persons be prohibited from taking shingle from reserve near Girder Bridge. Tenders were considered for erection of bridge on Smith's road, filling gully on Twochain road, and filling up gully on Smith's road. It was decided to put a bridge over creek near Mr B. White's on No 10 road, .and fresh girders in bridge over Guild's drain. The Board then adjourned.
