MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. (Before C. R. Blakiston and J. C. Watts Russell, Esqrs, J.P.'s.] DRUNK AND RESISTING THE POLICE. James Wilson, charged with this offence, was fined £1 and cab hire, or forty-eight hours' in default. DISOBEYING AN ORDER OF THE COURT. Thomas Helms was charged on warrant with failing to obey an order of the Court, to contribute to the support of his wife and family. Defendant promised to pay the amount owing, £3 10s, at once, and was discharged under that promise, but advised not to allow the payment to fall into arrears again. DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. Daisy Cornfoot, arrested for this offence, was fined 40s or ninety-six hours. Thomas Campbell, charged with being drunk and using obscene language in Gloucester street the previous night, was fined 20s or forty-eight hours' imprisonment.
