ROAD BOARDS.
HEATHCOTE. This Board met at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Present—Messrs Ness, Dunlop, Attwood, and Mardon. Mr Ness took the chair. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Mr J. T. Fisher informing the Board that he was unavoidably detained from attending that evening, and giving the members information on other matters. From Messrs Garrick and Cowlishaw with account. Ordered to be paid. Fiom the Spreydon Road Board with account, half cost of Colombo road. Agreed to. From Mr Rosser asking the Board to put shingle on the road leading to the sandhills. To be informed the Board thinks it would not be of any use at present. From the Central Board of Health. Deferred till next meeting. From the Secretary of Public Works re the Spreydon and Heathcote drainage, and another from same re grants. In reference to clearing out drain on Piper's road, The clerk was directed to write to the Spreydon Road Board requesting to see tenders before accepting one. Mr Sycamore waited on the Board in reference to his contract, when he was informed the Board had decided not to pass his work, as the shingle was not according to contract. A deputation of gentlemen from Waltham waited on the Board for information in reference to the drain, and were informed if they waited on the gentlemen appointed to carry the woik through, they no doubt would obtain the information required. Tenders for improving the Sumner road were opened, when it was agreed to pass them on to the Government to stl ct one. Accounts to the amount of £153 2s 6d were passed, and the Board adjourned;
