(Press Telegraph Agency.') Wellington, June 10. Arrived—The Taranaki from Picton and the North. The Luna is to leave for Nelson to-night with the Governor on board. Dunedin, June 10. The Guardian had to give up the name of the writer of a letter signed “Pudor,” reflecting on a member of the legal profes siou. Copies of the letter had been sent to the judges. The writer is James Smith, barrister, and the lawyer alluded to is J. Macassey. The letter states that the Daily Times obtained information concerning the Ward Chapman telegrams in a discreditable manner from a certain member of the legal fraternity, who was subsequently discovered to have descended to the consummate business of hiring spies to dog the footsteps of Judge Ward in his private life. The matter has caused cc under able stir. The Bev Dr Stuart (vice-chairman), and the Hon D. Menzies, as representing the council of the University, waited upon the Superintendent yesterday, and brought under his notice the necessity for some alteration in the system under which the hospital was managed, in order to adopt it to the purpose of a medical school. His Honor hailed with satisfaction the proposal to have the hospital associated with the medical school, and undertook to bring the matter before the Executive.
