MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, June 19. (Before W. D. Carruthers, Esq., J.P.) Drunkenness.—Thos Wild was charged with being drunk and creating a disturbance in a public place. Mrs Wild, the prisoner's ■wife, deposed that defendant struck her yesterday in the street, that he had twice during the week turned her out of doors, and had threatened her life. The defendant was remanded until Monday. Margaret Dempsey, a confirmed drunkard, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour. Mary Ann Kirkwood was fined 20s ; Robert Stewart was fined ss.
