CHRISTCHUItCH. Wednesday, August 18. (Before G. L. Hellish, Esq., 11. M.) Wife Desertion. —Valentine Sliott was brought up on warrant, charged with this offence. Dr Foster appeared for Mrs Shott, and by consent the case was adjourned until the 24th instant, in order that a deed of separation between the prisoner and his wife might be drawn out. Drunk and Disorderly.—M. Jacobson, charged with this offence, was fined ss, and ordered to pay cab hire. Ralph Flindall, who was also charged with using obscene language in the street, was fined 20s. Duncan James, for a similar offence, was fined 10s. Illegally on Premises.—Angus McKen zie, who had been found illegally on the premises of Mr Mein, was lined 10s. LYTTELTON. [Before W. Donald, Esq, R.M.] Tuesday, August 17. Drunkenness.—Duncan Bell, arrested ty constable Hey ward, was fined 10s, or in default 48 hours. Desertion.—Henry Bones was charged by Captain Stewart, of the Eliza and Mary, with this offence, and ordered on board. Befusal of Duty. Henry Leroy, a seaman, was charged by Captain Smith, of the Coq du Village, barque, with this offence. After hearing evidence, the Bench sentenced accused (who refused to resume duty) to one week's imprisonment. Using Language Calculated to Frovoice a Breach of the Peace.—J. E. K. Sauuders was charged with this offence towards Sergeant-Major O'Grady in the Can terbury billiard room on the night of the 13th. The Bench inflicted a fine of 40s and costs. Neglecting to Keep Lamp Burning.— Mary Ann Beverly, licensee of the Saxon Hotel, war fined 6s and costs, 4s. Stephen Baily, of the Albion Hotel, was fined a similar sum for a similar offence. Obstructing a Public Thokoughfare. —Wilson and Co, of Loudon ttreet, were summoned for this offence. Tbe case was settled on payment of is costs, ,L ; !

Cattle Trespass.—Charles Brown, for one calf astray, was fined 5s and costs ; J. R. Webb was fined 5a and costs for having one head astray.
