Mr Pilliet addressed the electors at considerable length, reviewing the action he had taken in the Provincial Council, and stating what his opinions were on the leading questions before the country. Mr Pilliet sat down amidst great cheering. The following resolution, proposed by Mr T. H. Oldridge, and seconded by Mr H. Barnett, sen, was carried unanimously—- " That this meeting thanks Mr Pilliet for his address, and is of opinion that he is a fit and proper person to represent the Akaroa district in the General Assembly.
