A letter published lately in the Daily News give a long description of the hardships to which the Communist prisoners now in New Caledonia are subjected. Great changes have been made since Rochefort and, his companions escaped. Statements are made of the doings of the different persona who have held the office of Governor, showing how despotic they are, and it is even, asserted that the treatment of the women ia of the most disgraceful kind. It is announced that ex Governor M. Gautvier de la Richerie is about to publish a work on New Caledonia, and that it will contain startling revelations on ihe mode of living that tht political convicts have to endure,
