(Per Press Agency,') LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Tuesday, June 20. EXPLANATION. The Hon the Speaker stated that in a speech he had made at Balclulha he had been misunderstood. He desired to say he had no idea of offending the members of Council when he made the speech. Hon Dr Pollen expressed his satisfaction at hearing the Speaker say so. FIRST READINGS. A Bill amending the Friendly Societies Act was read a first time. The Wellington Rivers Act was read a first time. The Council then adjourned till Thnrs* day.
