MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, October 2S. (Before C. L. Lee, Esq, J.P.) Drunk and Disorderly. William Tracey, for this offence, was fined 40s ; an inebriate, who appeared for the first time, was fined ss. Disobeying an Order.— -The adjourned case against Edward Spray was called on, for failing to comply with an order of the Dunedin Court to contribute £1 15s weekly towards the support of his wife and family. Defendant said that since last before the Court he had obtained a situation at Riccarton, for which he received £1 per week wages, and found. He was willing to allow his wife 15s a week. He had always sent his wife money when be was in a position to do so. He could now send her £1 10s. Hia Worship told defendant he could pay the amount he had into Court, and he would adjourn the case further for a week to give him time to see what definite arrangements ho could make for the future. Defendant would be admitted to bail until then on his own recognizances. Lunacy from Drink—Thomas Freeman, who had been remanded on this charge, and had recovered, was brought up and discharged.
