The inquiry into the loss of the ketch Quiver was concluded yesterday afternoon. After all the evidence had been heard, the Bench said they had much pleasure in returning the certificate of Mr Anderson, the chief officer of the Taranaki, and in doing so must remark that no possible blame attached to him. He had acted to the best of his ability. They could not help commenting on the evidence given by the Quiver’s men, which was too exact for truth. The crew of the steamer were exonerated from all blame; but a formal judgment would be given at the opening of the Magistrate’s Court on to-day.
