MEETING OF CANTERBURY MEMBERS.

[By Tele<jbaph.] [fhoji the stecial cobbespondbnt of the PBKBB.] Wellington, August 2. A meeting of members from Canterbury was held this morning ; the Hon John Hull chairman. After much conference the following resolutions were passed : BRANCH BAILWAT9. That a deputation be appointed to wait on Ministers, and urge the promise of Government, given last year, that the several railways enumerated in the Canterbury Railways Reservation Act of last session should be undertaken, may be carried out. WK3T COAST BAILWAT. It was resolved that a meeting be arranged with the West Coast members to get their assistance in urging on Government the speedy extension of the railway from the East to the West Coast of the Middle Island. BEPEBBENTATION. It was resolved that it be urged on the Government that the representation of certain electoral districts in Canterbury is very much »maller in proportion to population than they are fairly entitled to, and that the Government be requested to give effect to the opinion expressed by its members that representation sho\dd bo adjusted in proportion to population. SFHPLCS LAND BEVENT7E. It was resolved that the Government he strongly urged not to insist on the proposed reductions from the amount of accrued land fund to the 3lsfc of December last, which should have paid to the Counties and Road Boards in Canterbury by the 31st of March lust. ENDOWMENTS. Resolved—That it is desirable to bring under the notico of Government the question of making endowments of land for Road Boards, and also of adding to the endowment of land for municipalities, and to ascertain their views on the subject. A deputation was appointed, consisting of the Hou. J. Hall, Me.'srs J. E. Brown, Montgomery, Saunders, Stevens, and Wakefield.
