WEDDING

BLACKADDER—BEGG. The wedding recently took place at the Presbyterian Church, Totara Flat, of Joyce Evelyn, younger daughter of Mr. Begg and the late Mrs. Begg, Totara Flat, and James Lester, second son of Mr. and Mrs. T Blackadder, Reefton. Rev. Mr. Scarfe, of Ahaura officiated, and Mrs. Brown was organist. The bride wore a frock of shellpink lace cut on classical lines. From the waistline at the back faggoted insets of georgette fell to form a full oval train, and the sleeves were also finished with faggoted insets of georgette, which formed peaks over the hands. From a coronet of orange blossom her pink, embroidered tulle veil fell to form a second train. She carried an armlet of pink bella dona lilies, begonias, geraniums and maidenhair fern. Miss Joan Hannah, of Reefton, was bridesmaid, and Mrs. R. Beckman, of Christchurch, was matron of honour. Both wore period frocks of Eau-de-Nil silk taffeta. The pin-tucked bodices with square yokes of matching lace were underlined with pink satin and edged with a frill of pink, Valenciennes lace. The very full skirts were finished with lace pockets matching the yokes. They wore haloes of pink flowers from which fell shoulder veils of green tulle, and carried armlets of pink Belladona lilies, begonias, geraniums and maidenhair fern. Mr. W. McKenzie, of Reefton, was best man, and Mr. W. Begg, brother of the bride, was groomsman. The reception was held at the home of the bride’s father. When Mr. and Mrs. Blackadder left for Christchurch and Timaru, the bride was wearing a two-piece suit with rust and black accessories to tone.
