(Our Own Correspondent.) HOKITIKA, May 10. Dr Bellringer will leave for Auckland this week. , Dr Aitken and Mrs Aitken and family will leave for Wellington on Miss Ramsay of Westland Hospital is on leave, and Sister Cross is acting matron of the hospital. Dr Andrea, of Takaka, will arrive in Hokitika. .to take over the practice in Hokitika recently conducted by Dr B. L. Wilson. Dr Wilson will return to Hokitika for a few days following the arrival of Dr Andrea. , One Rugby match was held m Hokitika on Saturday afternoon in the third grade competition, when Kiwis and School played a drawn game with the score 9 points Mr Stephens was referee. The Hokitika team did not go to Greymouth as the Rugby matches in Greymoutn had been postponed. Frank Keenan, a Rimu boy, had an unenviable experience when he went out shooting in the region oi Aft Misery last Friday. The young chap had failed to return by nightfall, and a search party was quickly organised under Constable Heyward. The party, consisting of 19 men, commenced a vigorous search and found the lad and brought him to his home at 6 o’clock the following morning. The lad was f°Vl, curled up under a tree, and little the worse for his trying experience. The weather during the night was stormy. The search party had a trying time searching the bush country. The recent news in the cables from Australia announcing the exploits of William Shand and William Jenkins, seamen who had had to make a desperate bid for their lives, when their ship was torpedoed off the Australian coast are both well known in Hokitika. William Shand is a Hokitika boy who started his sea career on the Gael, and William J'enkins also served on the Gael. Both are well known 'in local shipping circles. William Shand’s mother resides in Hokitika with other members of the family. To-day many Hokitika boys are serving in the Merchant Marine and serving in manj- parts of the Empire. Jock Ross, son of Mr and Mrs C. B. Ross, of Hokitika, has travelled extensively during the war, serving on many ships. He is at present on the Eng-land-South American run. Jack Stuart, son of Mr and Mrs T. Stuart is also on the other side of the world, while Maurice Graham, son of Air and Airs L. Graham, is serving on troop ships. Captain A. M. Nalder is serving in the Solomons in charge of a .ship engaged on war work. Most of the Hokitika boys served their , apprenticeship under Captain Nalder on the Gael. Harry Harding, another Hokitika boy, has just returned after many trips to the war zone.
