MR MCDONALD’S SPEECH. At the largest political meeting ever held in Gisborne, the electors have declared their confidence in Mr Allan McDonald by a most overwhelming majority. This is very satisfactory to those who are to be counted amongst Mr McDonald’s supporters. Mr McDonald is one of those men who do hot possess the glib easy-flowing verbosity which characterises other candidates, and from this cause is somewhat at a disadvantage when he appears on a public platform, But though no orator, Mr McDonald is a blunt outspoken honest man, who speaks plainly his mind on the questions of the day, and that his rough and ready honesty of speech found favour with the meeting, his most bitter opponents cannot deny. We have not space this morning to make any lengthy comments upon the speech, but shall return to it anon, An almost verbatim report is given in another column, and to it we invite the attention of the electors,
