New Zealand Flora.

Trait first part of the first volumn of the Art A bum of New Z.a'and Flora has gone through its initial stages, and is now ready fir issue. From the copy which has been handed to us we can safely assert that it Carries with it all that has baon promised aid no one can but congra'ulate tha authors (>fr and Mrs Featon.) on the result of iheir labours. N > ‘•ft’ 'it has b?en spared to produce a work which will prove instructive as wall as ornamantal. Both from a point of reference and aa faithfully portraying tha bsautiful fl ira of New Zealand the value of tha production cannot be over estimated. The descriptive portion of ths biok is ably set forth by Mr Featon, and gives every in, formation as to each plant, reviewing its economy, habits, and characteristics, Tha various plants have been excellently chromolithographed from the paintings of Mrs F j aton. The paintings themselves are of a high order of art, and are life like and natural. Since the first introduction of the book to public notice it has been received with great appreciation, and the encomiums of tha Press throughout tha Colony have been most profuse. Too often has it bean tha case ’in New Zialani to break faith with subscribers in detailing ths merits of works which ara about to be proiuoed. Tnis cannot even ba sug»ested with the “ Art Album,” tor it must oa almitlei on all sides that it is perfect in every particular. As a colonial production it has no equal, and from its intrinsic value m ist necessarily force itself upon the public nitio-a. As wo-'have said before the authors must be congratulated on the success of their efforts, and there can be no doubt that they will meet with the reward they deserve. Orders can be left with Mrs A. M. Browne, stationer, or at the manager’s office, opposite to Mr W. Adair’s.
